Physical Conditioning & Wellness
JCC offers state of the art fitness equipment, with personal attention to individual’s needs and fitness goals. Participants will receive orientation on fitness equipment, optional physical fitness testing, a body composition test and written exercise program upon request. Participants are welcome to sign up each semester. The workshop activity will take place in the JCC McGrann Fitness Center. Call 786-2338 or 786-2232 for an orientation appt. CIVIL WAR BATTLES, CAMP LIFE RECREATED IN MASSENA
MASSENA -- The St. Lawrence County Historical Association sponsors the seventh annual Civil War Reenactment Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27. Mock battles will be at 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Closing ceremonies will follow the Sunday battle. Reenactors will perform military drills, talk about camp life, and demonstrate such skills as coffin-making, cooking, cannon firing, and medical practices. There will be a fashion show of Civil War-era clothing, a basket auction, displays of artifacts, and live entertainment. The 2nd Michigan, Co. E Reenactment Unit hosts the weekend. Admission is $3 per person per day, free for children 6 and under. The military camps are open to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, 10 to 2 on Sunday.
