In the Fall of 2006, the Board of Directors completed an updated Strategic Plan. 

The Plan identifies:

THE CUSTOMER: Our customers are our members.

THE MISSION: To continually increase the economic strength and quality of life in the region by helping members grow and prosper, by supporting existing businesses, and by assisting in attracting and developing new businesses.

THE VISION: To be recognized as a leadership organization which promotes business development, supports member growth and prosperity, and enhances the region's business climate.

THE VALUES: To be successful, the Chamber must have...Integrity, Respect for All, Accountability, Trustworthiness, Great Customer Service, and Honesty

THE KEY STRATEGIES:

1. The Chamber will develop and retain the membership base by engaging them in meaningful ways. Operational Goals:

  • Expand and manage strong volunteer base
  • Expand communications about the Chamber and about overall business information
  • Expand membership specifically in sectors identified with low representation compared to county business makeup
  • Develop new services, products
  • Develop focus groups by sector

2. The Chamber will play an active role in business growth and development in our region.
Operational Goals:

  • Create a more defined new business development role with other ED offices
  • Take a leadership role in the construction of a new Convention Center
  • Established a more defined relationship as the liaison between business community and Ft Drum (procurement, job placement, communications)
  • Continue to develop the Chambers Visitor’s Center as a resource for business and visitor information
  • Continue to create an annual Jefferson County Visitors Guide

3. The Chamber will be the "Voice of the Business Community" with regard to public policy issues. Operational Goals:

  • Advocate locally and with state and federal legislators on behalf of businesses on identified public policy issues
  • Continue in the role of educator on public policy issues.

4. The Chamber will be a provider of education and workforce development services and programs through partnerships with appropriate agencies, organizations and individuals. Operational Goals:

  • Help improve communication and cooperation between businesses and educators
  • Provide more defined entrepreneurial and start up business support
  • Help educate/train workforce to take advantage of emerging job opportunities
  • Help businesses to utilize Ft Drum workforce

5. The Chamber will take a leadership role in regional initiatives (active/leadership role)
Operational Goals:

  • Continue to promote the Capital Corridor as a partner with the TI Bridge Authority
  • Participate with the MDA initiatives
  • Expand on partnerships with neighboring county chambers of commerce
  • Reestablish partnerships with local chambers

6. The Chamber will develop its internal resources to meet the needs of a growing organization.
Operational Goals:

  • Develop Staff, competitive salaries
  • Expand to larger facility
  • Expand financial resources
